![]() ![]() It costs a little more but the undercarriage will last a LOT longer than a standard u/c. Unfortunately the 550/650 can't be identified that easily. The easiest way to tell this option on the 700J is if the machine has two carrier rollers. As mentioned above, if you are in abrasive ground conditions (sand or sandy loam) I would look at the Maximum Life undercarriage option. If the transportation issues don't matter and you can afford a little larger machine then I would go with the 700J. If this isn't a consideration or you're not looking at an LGP then the 700J LT or XLT will both angle down to under 10' with no problem. So if you need to be under 10' to move without a permit the 650J is your machine. If you're considering LGP machines the 700J LGP's blade angles down to 10'1" and the 650J LGP angles down to 9"11". The consideration here is width for transportation. You have more weight and HP which allows you to perform more "heavy" work like a larger machine, but yet it still "feels" like a small dozer. The 700J is quiet a bit larger tractor and has excellent balance. IF you want a 7 roller bottom for better grading balance I would go for the 650J XLT or 650J LGP. If you are ok with a 6 roller bottom, for the money I would go for the 550J LT over the 650J LT. Chances are if you have a trailer large enough for the 550, it will also haul a 650 just fine. And it would exceed all the standards needed for my 1984 John Deere 455D bulldozer. The counter help/owner says it's as good as anything out their. There are virtually no differences between the 550 and 650 as far as shipping regulations. NAPA is selling, until June 30, 2102, their NAPA Universal Fleet 15W40 Motor Oil for 9.98 a gallon, 48.99 for a 5 gallon pail or 519.00 for a 55 gallon drum.
